Staff would find doors being locked behind them, and index files would be found removed from files, sorted and stacked - again, in a locked building. The smell of hot cinnamon punch would be detected in the week before Christmas, too. These last two phenomena occurred in sheds used for open air treatments of TB patients from the nearby hospital, now demolished; and punch was indeed taken round the wards, including the open air versions, during the festive season. The ghost of an old patient was seen twice in the area, the first occasion eliciting a conversation with a staff member! There are tales of other "frail, gaunt men wandering the garden" too.
