A386, Mary Tavy, Blackdown, Devon PL19 9QB

Despite being told by locals that the pub wasn't haunted when he took over in autumn 2014, the landlord saw "An elegant woman wearing a gold ball gown. Drifting silently through the bar [heading for the restaurant]" and a search by him and two others yielded no one. He saw her once more, when he was seated on the toilet in his flat. While he was away, his barmaid saw the strange lady when she was cashing up; the ghost was staring at her, then vanished. The barmaid was so frightened that she had to call a friend to escort her to the door when she left. The lady was also seen by one of the landlord's old University friends. In addition to this ghostly intruder there were also footsteps on the threshold to his bedroom door, and the sound of pans and glasses smashing in the kitchen although no damage was ever found. There was also the sound like a chair had been lifted then smashed to the stage area "in great fury." The stand-in landlord and a friend were too alarmed to investigate.
