Three Crowns Hotel

Poet and Royalist Sydney Godolphin was shot on the porch by a Parliamentarian and died on the stone benches before he was taken inside the hotel - but prior to this he dispatched as many Roundheads as he could with his sword; his ghost consequently haunts this building, where he has been seen wearing his Cavalier garb, walking through walls with a sad expression on his face. He has also been seen (understandably!) on the porch, and even "startling" guests when they enter their rooms. Another ghost is that of a lady in blue, possibly Mary Whiddon, who is a descendant of John who built this inn and has also been seen at the nearby church.
