Hotel du Vin

This building was once an eye hospital before becoming a hotel. When it was known as Hotel Barcelona, maids claimed to have seen a woman in a long dress and a nurse's cap on the landing; it is said that she is Matron Kinninmont, the first matron of the hospital. This spectre has also been seen in a mirror in the bar; in addition, the smell of antiseptic has also been noticed on occasion. During refurbishment, security guards investigated a figure that was seen in a third floor window but no-one was found.

Update 28/2/22: The hotel responded to my Facebook query for any recent phenomena: "We haven't heard of any recent sightings or similar in recent years I'm afraid."
