The Chevalier Inn
81-82 Fore Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 3HR
01392 457760
The building was mostly destroyed in the World War 2 air attacks, leaving just a fragment of wall standing. This wall was incorporated into the current building and it is said that a phantom Cavalier appears some nights by this wall, with blood pouring from a wound in his stomach. He has also been seen in the attic storeroom. It is said that the inn that once stood here was the watering hole of Cavaliers, and that King Charles I was hidden from Roundheads here.
