Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel

Clanking noises, said to be like ratting chains, and a "Grey Lady" wearing a ragged dress have been reported here, supposedly walking the staircases in the early hours of the morning. These phenomena may be connected to the building that once stood on the site, a prison; indeed, a gallows was located where the flag pole can now be found. Some say that the Grey Lady may be a guest from the time that the hotel was opened and she was gassed in her room.
