The Regent

A 2025 online newspaper article gives some details of the many ghosts here. The most famous is "The Lady in the Circle." She is described as "a young woman, perhaps in her early twenties, sitting in the circle. Her appearance was distinct: a grey skirt, black waistcoat, white long-sleeved blouse, and a white mobcap or bonnet, which [is] described as being "Civil War style." The chief projectionist, Doug Wilkes says that the hairs on his legs would stand on end and the temperature would drop when she was near. He says that she is "benign" but according to the article, is "resistant to change - the projection room allegedly went intensely cold when a new projector and, later, a Dolby sound system were installed."
An actress on stage saw a middle-aged man sitting in the audience but when she look back seconds later, the man had gone and it is suggested that he may be a man who was found dead in a shop in the 1920s before the theatre was built; or he could be Joseph Cox who worked as a baker at this location in the 1840s.
Another member of staff saw a figure "flitting past the office door out of the corner of his eye" and on another occasion he got the impression that someone walked into his office and stand next to him - but when he looked there was no-one there.
