Beachy Head
Beachy Head Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN20 7YA
There are stories of a black monk, reputed to have been thrown over the cliff by Henry VIII's men during the Dissolution. The legend is that he seeks revenge and is blamed by some for the suicides here. Also, a misty white figure has been seen near the edge before disappearing, a small boy and girl playing near a pair of stone huts, a phantom woman also tumbled over the edge carrying a bundle (perhaps a baby?) and a lady wearing an old fashioned grey dress that stooped to pet a dog being taken for a walk. The dog ran off howling and the woman vanished.
