Arundel CastleArundel, West Sussex BN18 9AB 01903 882173 A kitchen boy who was overworked to the point of death is said to be the cause of the sound of invisible pots and pans crashing about. A "Blue Man", resembling a 17th century Royalist officer, has been seen in the library apparently "examining old books", and a young girl in white has been observed running towards the Hiornes tower where she jumped to her death after being spurned in love. In addition, the builder of the castle, Earl Rodger de Montgomery, has been observed and a small white bird that, according to legend, appears as a foreboding of death in the family of the Dukes of Norfolk. A worker in the stock room saw two bottles of alcohol fly off the shelves and shatter on the floor some distance away. In addition, children have seen a little dog in the library- but it is invisible to adults. There is also said to be "the distant rumble of cannons being fired at the castle walls."
