Bloody Corner

According to local legend, a battle resulting in 1000 deaths occurred near here, and this area and the beaches have had reports of the sounds of battle and the "shadows of fighting men." It is said that Hubba the Viking landed with a fleet of ships and marched inland, only to be defeated by Odun, Earl of Devon and Alfred the Great. Hubba was one of the many casualties, and were buried at Bonehill. However, the dates of this skirmish are very uncertain!
