St Mary's Church

Mr Veal is said to haunt this church and its vicinity. It is stated that he appears to beg forgiveness from Mrs Bargrave, who had been visited by Mrs Veal, evading her brother as she wanted her friend to write to him asking him to use her money to buy a headstone for their parents grave. The letter was posted, but soon after Mrs Veal died - and the brother said he never received the letter even though it had been delivered to his address. Mr Veal called Bargrave a liar, and a while afterwards he married but fell on hard times due to mismanagement of his companies and he died in poverty.
