The Chequers Inn

The Ghost of a Napoleonic soldier is said to haunt room 6 in the inn. The soldier had returned from the war with loot and caught the eye of a young barmaid after he had stopped at the inn on his way home. The girl waited till the soldier was asleep before stealing his loot. However, he awoke prematurely and stabbed her to death. The room seems to be active when empty, indulging in poltergeist-like behaviour, moving items around, leaving the beds in a "slept in" state and causing audible footsteps.
