The Reed Arms

A 2025 newspaper quoted this pub as follows; "We’re a Grade II listed building originally built in 1850s by George Reed, and we have a ghost called George! Maybe the same person." The article, which gives no more information on the spectre, gives a brief biography of Reed: "[He] was a 19th century philanthropist who has been credited with funding some of the most recognisable buildings in Burnham. Coming from humble beginnings as the illegitimate son of a chambermaid, George climbed the ranks of the Victorian upper-crust through his mother's remarriage to a banker."
