The staff claim that an "unquantifiable 'something'" exists in the cellar; in addition, the window display was once found altered overnight, a staff member experienced a coin thrown over her shoulder as she walked down the stairs from the empty stock room; this same worker was with a colleague in the staff room when the lid of a bottle flew off the table. All this is said to have happened during a period of renovation, and the builders said they experienced strange things, but did not specify what. As far as the history of the building is concerned, staff have heard that someone hung themselves in an upper storey room many years ago.
