When this was a branch of Waterstones, the doors slamming at the rear of the book shop and tea and coffee pots rattling in the top floor cafe were blamed on Elise, a nanny who fell three flights down the stairs and died. A drop in temperature and perfume was also been detected too. Books went missing, or been found re-arranged in the cellar, where the remains of a Roman Bath House could be seen through a panel in the wall. Now that there have been a few changes of ownership, it is not known if the spectral reports still occur.
