Douces Manor

A number of ghosts are claimed for this mansion, including Miss Savage. She is a former owner who "has been seen at a bay window and turns to face anyone entering what is now a a dining room." Another phantom is an Edwardian lady known as the "Merry Widow of Mereworth." The mansion was used by the RAF in the Second World War, and the former inn in the basement is known as "The Twitch Inn" and is now a heritage centre. It derived its name from the time that it was used by RAF officers who were afflicated with a nervous twitch caused by their duties. The ghost of one of the pilots has apparently been seen in the old bar area on a number of occasions.
