The George Inn

It is claimed that the ghosts of Judge Jeffries and the Duke of Monmouth haunt the premises. There have been tales of a visitor waking to find a figure at the end of his bed, while another felt the bed dip as if someone invisible had sat down on it. A man in a guard's uniform has been seen in a guest room (it is not known if this is the figure mentioned above). Staff have talked of "a lot of activity" in the upper rooms where people see shadowy figures and hear odd sounds. In the bar area, dogs are also reported to react to something only they can see.
