Screaming AlleyRamsgate, Kent CT11 9NY During World War 2, it is said that a soldier was found here in a state of shock; he had seen a woman dressed in white emerge from the wall, her arms outstretched as if she was pleading for help. It is also said that screams are to be heard in the alley on stormy nights and a local legend talks of a nun who was walled up alive after it was discovered that she was seeing a monk from St Augustine's Abbey. Another source for the ghostly screams originates from the time that a horse bolted down the alleyway, taking its carriage and its occupants over the cliff. Link: The Isle of Thanet News |
