Downe Court

Groaning, footsteps and the sound of a body being dragged have been heard here; it is said that this could be the remnant of an incident where a servant and a girl were drowned in a nearby pond (both victims have been seen, the girl seen rising from the water and also observed inside the house, where she drips water and stands by her old bed). The apparition of a Roundhead who was executed here has also been seen but minus his legs; there is also the head and shoulders of a cavalier. Phantom men have been reported fighting, and one lady woke to find a severed arm lying on her bed. She recoiled from the horror and the limb vanished.
