The Queen's Head1 Bridge Road, Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8XS 01932 839820 This pub, once a courthouse and coaching inn, suffered from a bout of poltergeist-like activity in 1997 with bottles moving, cabinets flying open and a hand dryer in the toilet working by itself. The landlord at the time got so exasperated that he told the ghost to "Calm it!" which worked for a while - and then he started seeing the ghosts which he saw in the downstairs only and was said to be a lady wearing an older, large skirt and apron. He only saw it in his peripheral vision but said that it threw things at him when he was cleaning up. The second phantom was described as sitting at a bench and wearing what seemed to be a puritan's hat. Another staff member saw another ghost, that an old man, again seated at a bench, wearing grey trousers, hobnail boots, a black jacket and white scarf. Other phenomena include the sound of a baby crying and a feeling of heat in one of the rooms. However, two years later, the pub was described as quiet. |
