Lacock Countryside

The fields between Bewley Court and Lacock Abbey are said to be haunted by a phantom nun, who, according to legend, was pressed into religion to fulfil her father's vows. She became disillusioned and fell in love with the son of the family at Bewley Court but she was discovered where she was imprisoned in a damp cell where she died. Now she has been seen walking to the river.
