The Old Manor

Grenville Place, Bracknell, Berkshire RG12 1BP
01344 304490

Murmurings and the sighting of a figure in a cassock gazing down on punters have been mentioned here. The figure is said to be a priest who was unearthed in a hiding place here and murdered. A more recent drinker, known as Bert, is also said to frequent the place thirty years after he died.
Ruth Roper Wylde provides a few snippets about this location; A rumour says that an old landlord haunts the building, while a soldier haunts the back bar. "Old Harry" would appear at the bar, where he would order a drink and then vanish. A cleaner noticed a man walk past her into one of the cubicles in the men's toilets but she noticed that he had not left footprints in the wet floor. When she looked again, the cubicle and unlocked and empty and staff knew of no-one who had entered the toilets. There is also an anecdote of a man in Tudor clothing being noted briefly. There are also incidents of the security shutters being violently rattled, attributed to a ghost walking through the bar.
