New Wimbledon Theatre

A "Grey Lady" has been seen here, especially the ladies toilets. The phantom is described as a cloud of mist. On one occasion, the ghost appeared through the floor of the manageress's bedroom and ascending, cackling as it did so. The untoward activation of the sprinkler system has also been blamed on her. The first manager of the building, J.B.Mullholland, has been reported sitting in a box watching rehearsals, and one patron saw a dark figure, dressed like a puritan with "a little goatee board" staring at her. c. 1995, two witness, one of them being entertainer Danny La Rue, heard a lady singing musical scales as the theatre was being closed for the night. A search revealed no-one in the building and staff the next day indicated that the phantom singer had been heard before.
