Poltergeist-type activity has been reported including "strange wafts and breezes" and a basket of flowers being flung to the floor, culminating in the apparation of a woman with dark brown hair and dressed in a grey-blue cardigan moving rapidly towards the bar and, upon reaching the corner, vanishing. Soon after, another spectre was seen; a young man with long fair hair walking towards the kitchen and then fading away. A serving maid is said to haunt the upper floor too. A ghostly man in a black cloak has also been encountered and is believed to be that of a man who committed suicide many years ago (or was thrown into a pit hundreds of years ago, according to some stories).
