The most famous phantom is said to be a "petulant" eight year old girl named Winifred who perished of tuberculosis in the hotel; she is said to have an aversion to alterations at the hotel, smashing glasses and windows. Other ghosts include a dog that "helpfully warms the feet of guests" (!) and a cavalier whose presence is heralded by the smell of cigars.

Update 7/6/23: After a 16 month wait after my inquiry about any recent phenomena, I was told by Jon at the hotel that, "Lots too many to list [.] The last being a review from last weekend saying that his stay was great apart from too many ghosts!!!"

Update 6/9/26: A newspaper interview revealed which said that there have been fleeting glimpses of a dark figure. The article says that, "Several people have described seeing a man in the same bedroom, sometimes sitting near the bed and sometimes observing its occupants from a corner. Staff have nicknamed the recurring figure “the watcher”. [another employee] had already heard the stories when she caught a brief glimpse of a man sitting on the edge of a bed. “He was there for a split second and then he was gone,” she said. “His presence can feel intimidating, but I think he likes women,” she said. “Perhaps he is watching over them.”
