Bristol Cathedral

"The Grey Monk" has been seen in the cathedral, before making his way to the library through a blocked-up doorway. In the library, he has been observed "sitting and frowning." It is said that the phantom appears around 4.30pm. A 2024 newspaper adds that, "He's also said to take the occasional stroll onto College Green and through the wall to the Central Library."

Update 25/5/25: Researcher Greg Hardman visited this establishment and sent me the results of his inquiries; "Spoke to a librarian in the Upstairs Study Room. He has only worked there for 12 months, no experiences himself but he does know about the resident ghost ( The Grey Monk ). He happily showed me where the ghost is said to be seen, the Balcony Stall above the study area where the oldest books are kept. No access to that area and it is alarmed. The librarian who has been there the longest hasn't seen the ghost but doesn't dismiss there being one. "
