The Rummer Hotel

A young woman, aged about 18 and in white dress has been seen here, where she has been seen walking through a glass door. A spectral man with a dark complexion has been encountered in the cellar; there are also said to be other phantoms here, including a "teenage girl with long dark hair by the main staircase ... [and] a sighting of the torso of a man standing in front of the open fireplace in 2007 and sightings of a ghostly young girl". Some of these reports, especially those of women, may be of the same ghost.

Update 17/9/20: Brett Hirt of the Rummer replied to my email asking if there had been any recent occurrences; " We had a couple a few years ago. One of the chairs on an unoccupied table moved over a meter backwards, and freaked everyone out on a quiet Tuesday night. The bar manager also felt he had been followed home after closing up the Runner at night. When he got home, his wife asked him who he had brought home with him as she had seen a dark figure following him up the garden path. They both heard footsteps upstairs at that time the same time when they were the only ones in the house. Apart from that the kids don't scream at the walls, and the dogs are too lazy to be bothered by anything like that." Brett also said that a psychic told them a string of mishaps (dropping drinks etc.) by an Irish bartender named Kenny could instead be attributed to a spirit who didn't like him!
