The Stag and Hounds

74 Old Market Street, Bristol BS2 0EJ
0117 239 9156

Phantom claims arise as a possible consequence of this 15th century building being used as "a court of pie powder" which dealt with disputes between customers and traders at markets, and it is said that people were hanged in a room upstairs, where a lot of unexplained activity is claimed to occur. There are claims of footsteps, drops in temperature, objects moving or being knocked over (and some items disappearing and then being found later somewhere else), and the sound of faint voices, especially at night when the building is quiet. Apparitions comprise of a ghostly man dressed in period clothing and a Grey Lady, seen on the upper floors moving around or standing at the top of the stairs.
