Windsor Castle

There are many ghosts associated with this castle; Queen Elizabeth I has been seen here, and her high heels heard tapping on the ground. King George III is another spectral visitor, usually seen or heard (muttering "What? What?") in the library and looking through the windows. Henry VIII has been observed walking the battlements, before disappearing through a wall where there was once a door. He is also seen and heard in the cloisters, groaning and dragging his foot; one of his wives, Anne Boleyn, is also said to appear at a window, weeping. Charles I is another spectre here: stroking his beard, he is seen in the library too (where some say Elizabeth I and several of Queen Victoria's children are also seen) and also recognised in the Canons House. George Villiers, the first Duke of Buckingham, is a visitor to the castle too, as is William Wykeham (described as exuding a peaceful feeling) in the Round Tower, while in the Curfew Tower, slow footsteps have been heard where prisoners were executed. There are many other claimed spectres here too, such as a man who has been seeing leading his horse through the wall of the kitchen and cloisters, and a young boy in the Deanry who screams "I don't want to go riding today!" (nearby footsteps are blamed on him too).
