The Bull Hotel

An upstairs bedroom known as "The Tear Room" is haunted by the sound of a crying woman. She is said to be the wife of a landlord in the 1820s who was ejected when he found that she had taken a lover and was pregnant. He forbade her from seeing her baby and she died of a broken heart; Brakspear however claims that the landlord ejected her from their home. The crying is said to be the remnant of her weeping, supposedly on the anniversary of her departure as she packed her belongings. There are also claimes that, "She is a friendly ghost and frequently moves tables, flings glasses from their shelves and even taps the shoulders of guests. According to the landlady, there is also a ghost cat that roams the pub and is often seen. The housekeeper, having cleaned the rooms, cites seeing cat indentations in the bed linen, even though she closed the door on taut and clean sheets."

Update 17/11/21: When asked via Facebook if there were any recent reports, the establishment replied with a simple "thumbs up" emoticon!
