A phantom cavalier is said to haunt this pub.

Update: 18/2/20 Sam Ayling, the Assistant General Manager replied to my query asking for more information. She told me of the tale from the 1970s when a team of painters and decorators set to work. One of the men tasked with whitewashing the walls returned soon afterwards in a terrified state, telling the others of a cavalier that stared at him. The landlord was not alarmed, as his wife saw him all the time. The story concludes that the cavalier has a "long tradition" of appearing in the cellar. Sam replied that she knew of none in the past year or two.
