The Viaduct Tavern

One person reported a phantom speaking to him, telling him that there were only two of them down there [presumably the cellar]! In 1996 the manager was down in the cellar when the door slammed shut and all the lights went out; the door wouldn't open and he cried out, his wife opening the door with no problem. Electricians three years later felt icy taps on the shoulder and seeing the rolled up carpet being lifted by itself before dropping to the ground. There is also said to be a ghost, nicknamed "Fred" who helps himself to people's drinks when they are not looking; he is also blamed for hand dryers turning on. A landlord's daughter relaxing in the living quarters upstairs heard footsteps racing up the stairs towards her, then the door opened, her newspaper was flung to the ground and the door closed again, with the footsteps retreating again.
