Friend at Hand

The ghost of publican William Thornton the publican is said to still walk the cellar. In 1836, he was ill in bed with consumption and sent his barmaid to the cellar for a drink but when she returned he was found in dead with his throat coat. Suicide was accepted as the reason for his death.
