The Harrow Inn

High Street, Wanborough, Swindon, Wiltshire SN4 0AE
07881 800959

A phantom coachman, named "Old Marlow" (or Marley) has been seen here. It is said that his coach overturned outside the inn, killing everyone on board. His spectre has been seen in the dining room and also walking through the inn. Other phenomena include; footsteps heard coming from a sealed attic room, a bottle of coke sliding on a shelf and dropping vertically on to the floor, a candle flaring up and flying across the room, and party balloon oscillating of its own accord. Chef Ian Jefferies, who ran the establishment from 2011-6, saw a painter in the alley one morning and asked the plasterers about him. When they asked who he was talking about, the painter disappeared. Jefferies had also seen a 6 foot 2 inch tall man (said to have "negative energy") from the 18th century in the preparation area, a five year old boy with blond hair, a boy called "Charlie" who flung Ian's sceptical dad's pint at him. and two eight year old girls upstairs, said to be polite and pleasant despite their habit of hiding items. There are many other stories attached to this place!

Update: 24/4/26 Greg Hardman informs me, after a chat with the landlord that activity here is continuing and there seems to be numerous examples of phenomena.
