The Swan123 High Street, Brentwood, Essex CM14 4RX 01277 211848 A 19 year old, William Hunter, who was detained here for two days in the cellar before being burnt as a Protestant in 1555, is said to haunt this pub. Locks opening and closing, taps and lights being interfered with, objects (such as furniture) moving and being hurled by themselves and dogs reacting to an invisible presence have been reported here as have bangs from the cellar and other phenomena. Additionally, a spectral man in a hat was once seen and a family members of the landlord have mentioned the feeling of someone sitting at the end of the bed, and one awoke to see a lady in a nightdress peering over her.
