Hughenden ManorThe ghost of Benjamin Disraeli has been seen here, usually near the staircase, and holding papers in his hands; more rarely, he is seen near his portrait in the main hall; however, such sightings are very fleeting. Perfume or cologne has also been detected in Disreali's old study. A young woman is said to haunt the woods behind the manor. Update 21/9/21: Rob Bandy, the House and Collections Manager informs me, "We are aware that we are listed in several volumes as having had ghostly sightings or unexplained events, however, I am afraid to say that during my tenure of the last decade, none have been reported to me. Traditionally, people have presumed that Disraeli haunts the mansion, but there are not really the reports to begin to back this up." |
