The Bear Inn

It is said that the spectre of a pub-goer named "Spider" (Charlie Marshall) emerges from the chimney at night. His real name was Charlie Marshall and in the 19th century, his trait, aided by his thin frame and one too many beers, was to climb up one chimney and emerge from the hearth in the next bar. One Christmas Eve, he elected not to come down even after a fire was lit in the grate to entice him down. He was never seen alive again. Black footprints appear on the carpet, soot falls mysteriously - and even a strange face hanging down from the chimney.
