Once known as North Lodge, the sound of horses hooves have been heard in the area, often galloping up the drive to the house. In the past, a white horse has been seen but after the skeleton of a horse was found in the grounds and given "a decent burial", the phantom animal was no longer seen. Inside the house, knockings on doors have been heard late at night, and children have been heard running and laughing - and some teachers report being touched on the leg. Pipe smoke has also been smelt in the headmaster's office and on another occasion, a teacher saw a fork fly by itself across the kitchen.
