St Lawrence ChurchHigh Street, Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire WD5 0AS 01923 261795 The ghost of servant Mary Anne Treble (or Trebble) has been seen in the church on All Soul's Day, and she has been seen walking from the vicarage to the graveyard and also seen looking out of the windows by occupants of nearby houses. It is in the vicarage that most of the reports are focussed. One of the version of Mary Ann's fate is that she was murdered by the vicar's wife, Mrs Parnell. The poor servant has been blamed for recurring damage to a fireplace in the Vicarage. Following an exorcism, he ghostly behaviour has diminished but there have been reports of problems with electrical equipment - electric toothbrushes and kettles turning themselves on.
