Saint and Sinner

Once called "The Grange", a lady in a long grey dress had been seen walking around the building by staff at the old Council offices and the Nationwide Building Society who took over the property. The swish of "long skirts" and a cold clamminess near the cellar door had also been experienced; she was also seen to pass through the cellar wall another time. The St Albans museum website says that, "It has been suggested she may be the ghost of Dorothy Osborn, daughter-in-law of John Osborn who is said to have committed suicide after discovering that her husband was having an affair." Whether the ghost manifests in the building's new guise as a pub is not known at present.
