Broad Street

An inlaid cross marks the place where two of the Oxford Martyrs (Nicholas Ridley, Archbishop of London and Hugh Latimer, Bishop of Worcester) were burnt on a pyre in 1553 for their adherence to the Protestant faith. They were seen on a ghost walk in 1995 by a 12 year old girl who provided a vivid description including the gunpowder around the Martyr's necks.
