The King's Arms

A 2025 newspaper mentions the Dark Oxfordshire website which reports on two men, apparently elderly but who are never seen, can be heard conversing in ancient Greek in this pub. The newspaper says that after a classics student who was working in the bar translated the conversation, "the pair were apparently merely discussing the quality of the pub's port wine. The voices are said to rise in tone as the discussion becomes heated, before there is the sound of a blow and the voices fall silent."

Update 17/11/25: Rich, a worker (manager?) at the pub informed me, "After investigating we are host to a family of ghosts who lived on the premises. The mom, dad, brother and sister." The Oxford student newspaper Cherwell adds, "patrons have reported the spirit of a former musician playing piano at odd hours in an otherwise empty room. And if you’re still unconvinced of the pub’s spectral credentials, the Deputy Manager of the King’s Arms told Cherwell that a ghost-finder once detected an entire ethereal family loitering there. Having perished in a fire which consumed their upstairs lodgings, the noise of the youngest daughter, Amelie, running and playing can still be detected."
