King Henry II's mistress, "Fair Rosamund" has been seen in this location, and the poltergeist-like behaviour of disturbing the furniture, knocking over of glasses and wine bottles etc. has been attributed to her. She has been known to make the occasional physical appearance and has been noted to walk on her knees; this is because the floor level has been raised in the intervening centuries since her death. Also reported is whispering, cold spots and the smell of flowers.

The "Forteana" website notes that the ghost is currently (2024) blamed for frequently knocking over glasses. A member of the forum provided excerpts from a 2006 book which had an interview with a former staff member. It reveals that in addition to walking on her knees, the "White Lady" was once seen to float through a wall, and then up the stairs. The ex-employee also said that she would detect a smell resembling heather and then said that when Rosamund died she was buried with a sprig of heather in her coffin.

Another witness who worked here as a waiter and barman gave some more details to an author: he knew little of the reports here (other than there was supposed to be a ghost named Rose or Rosemund), and saw bottles and glasses fall from the shelves, and drinks on trays knocked over. This would normally only happen to female bartenders. Several staff who lived on site said they would be awakened at 2am by the sound of a woman screaming, but no source could ever be ascertained.
