Court House Manor

Hale Lane, Painswick, Gloucestershire GL6 6QE
01452 814849

King Charles I was stationed here during the siege of Gloucester in the English Civil War. His army of 30,000 troops failed to seize the town, and when he heard that 15,000 Roundhead soldiers were on the way to protect Gloucester, Charles withdrew his men. The King and some of his Royalist men have been seen here both in the house, but also in the gardens and surrounding area.
