A variety of poltergeist-like activity has been reported here, including items disappearing - these were blamed on "Martha", the pet name for the ghost, who is described as wearing Victorian era clothing with a black top and having her hair styled in a bun. The landlord's children also once saw a man in the corner of the bar but he was invisible to the adults present. Sometimes items would reappear - in one case, saucepan lids that had belonged to previous tenants some time previously! In addition, glasses have been known to jump off shelves, taps would turn off and the TV would be turned on and off. In one of the upstairs bedrooms, a bright light has been seen and a cold sensation felt.
