The Hertford Club

When the snooker room was opened one evening, the sound of disembodied voices and laughter was heard, cues were quivering in the racks and the balls were seen to be in disarray "as if the game had just been abandoned"; footsteps and creaking floorboards have also been heard in the building.

Update 16/8/22: I asked the club via email if anything had been experienced recently, and Les Middlewood replied, "Apart from the usual creaks in an old timbered building such as ours, I don't think any of the staff have witnessed anything out of the ordinary in the last 5 years so I don't think that we can offer anything that would interest you at this time." He also said that the comments (above) came from books over a decade ago.
