Amwellbury

Monks are said to walk the grounds, which used to belong to Richard of Ware, Abbot of Westminster. One story says that one bedroom that faced the drive was visited by the ghosts as they walked past the bed, chanting (given the amount of refurbishment and demolition work carried out, it is not even known if this room still exists). The phantom monks seem to be connected to snow; one story is that they can be heard chanting in the woods after snowfall; another is that it snows the day after an appearance by the monks.

Update 19/8/20: I asked the current owner, Dr.David Preston, if he had anything of the phantom monks and he replied "Not yet," having lived in the property since 1996.
