All Saints Church

In the churchyard, it is said that shadowy figures 'dancing on the tombstones' can be seen and chattering noises (likened to 'a thousand ... monkeys' by one witness) heard. In the lane outside, footsteps have been heard and there have been reports of a cart carrying corpses. These bodies are apparently the remains of the Eaves family who starved to death in a poorhouse in the famine of 1762. This may be connected to reports from nearby Rectory Lane where a ghostly cart is said to trundle after dark; "The story is that it’s taking paupers' bodies up to the grave pit at the churchyard" claims one report.
