Walking along the corridors is sometimes to be seen a phantom lady, who walks through closed doors of guest's bedrooms. Doors also seemingly open and close by themselves, too. There are stories of people being pushed in the cellar and in other parts of the building, the sound of children; most famously, a pint of beer was flung from a table on to the floor (menus have also been seen dragged along the table) - it is also at this location that a spectral woman has been seen. She is thought to be the nanny of two children who died in a fire here. In "The Oak Suite" a man in a dark costume has been observed and a guest felt someone get into bed with him. Additionally, light effects and the drapes on the four poster bed moving by themselves have been noted. Another "dark man" in a cloak is to be encoutered in the loft area. He is described as menacing. Lady Jane Grey was proclaimed Queen of England from the balcony here and it is said that her spectre sometimes appears here.
