The main road that runs through St Weonard's is haunted by a sheep stealer. The legend is that he had stolen a sheep from his employer, a farmer, and had killed it, carrying it home on his back. The thief stopped at a stone to rest and placed the carcass on top of it. However, while he was resting, the sheep toppled over and fell on him and killed him.
